Alison C. Board

Blandford Forum, Dorset

Alison has always had a creative career, originally training to be a ballet teacher, she changed her subject to fine art following encouragement from her parents to join the family business. Alison spent fifteen years managing and subsequently owning a contemporary gallery and arts centre in Wimborne Minster, Dorset where she also taught both the adult and children's courses.
In 2009 she gave it all up to pursue her ambition of studying for a degree in Fine Art at the Arts University Bournemouth, where she graduated in 2013 with First Class Honours.
She uses her countryside home and her own family history to inspire her, but Alison is also influenced by film, theatre and song lyrics.
Alison’s ever-growing portfolio includes regular demonstrations and workshops for the SAA, a company who have produced a number of DVD and television tutorials with her. Alongside her digital tuition, Alison runs a comprehensive range of workshops, courses and painting weekends from her studio at Downend Farm, and can be booked to demonstrate for Art Societies or for private tuition. She has recently expanded internationally to include painting holidays.
When Alison isn’t teaching, she can be found surrounded by the beautiful Dorset landscape, sketching and photographing with her husband Richard and her two Jack Russells, Riley & Troy.
