I live in a small village in West Yorkshire and I am a mainly self-taught artist. My favourite medium is oil paint as I have used this from being a teenager, and although I painted as a hobby for many years it was not until much later in my career that I took it more seriously. I love the texture and feel of oil paints and enjoy experimenting with different techniques and also enjoy experimenting with colour. I have had several successful 'one-man' exhibitions in the local area. I am interested in the effects of light in my paintings and how this affects the colour and mood, irrespective of the subject, and am presently experimenting with abstracts. I have also taken commissions for portraits. Recently I have also started to give demonstrations in oil painting in the local area. Examples of my work can be seen at the Acorn Gallery in Pocklington and Art and Frames in Wetherby and also have pictures on display in Pomfrets Cafe in Wetherby.
