Mary runs workshops at her studio based in the Ferrers centre Staunton Harold hall and has extended her student base to include the 4 counties of Derby's,Staffs, Leics and Notts.
She is keen to mix with a wide range of artists networking andbelonging to other smaller groups including [email protected] art Melbourne.
She regularly has a stand at local festivals including Melbourne in South Derbyshire and the Six
streets Art Trail.
Mary was selected by the BBC to be one of the official artists to paint the Diamond Jubilee pageant on the river Thames during 2012.This led to a combined exhibition of several artists paintings completed along the banks of the Thames as history was taking place. This prestigious preview and following exhibition was shown at the Pumphouse Gallery in Battersea park London.
She was recently selected by Windsor events to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday . This event took place on July 16th 2016 in Windsor castle and Mary was one of the 90 artists painting in the grounds of the castle.
Her style of work is semi abstract with traditional drawings skills underpinning the work. She experiments in her studio with a range of media allowing paints, glazes and inks to float and form patterns. Textures in the form of pastes and gels are added to the work as it progresses.
A recent addition is to create images on her iPad and use them for collage work in her semi abstract pictures.
She has now branched out into the world of textiles and is transferring imagery from her paintings onto fabrics.
