Life in Porto

Margaret Ellis

This started off with a large piece of watercolour board given to me by my local framer to "try out". I drew the picture on it with with artist's pen and waterproof ink and then used watercolour to colour the drawing. I didn't like the way the watercolour flowed on the hot press surface so I tried other ways of using colour on the picture - coloured inks, gouache, inktense pencils and acrylic paint. Finally I varnished the whole thing with poster varnish and framed it without glass. I'm quite pleased with the finished result.
