Lovebirds
Following on from the video by Emma Jane this is my attempt using Derwent Inktense pencils. The video was nice and short but informative so I watched it before I started and then again part way through. I think I must have initially gone in too hard with the pencils and I ended up “dragging” the colours when I applied the water so towards the end it was difficult to make the individual markings on the feathers. Having said that, having parrots of my own (although not lovebirds) I’m happy with the outcome and enjoyed doing it.
Derwent Inktense pencils plus a couple of Giotto Stilnovo colours on Cotman 300g Water Colour paper. I also added a weak watercolour wash as a background.
