Low Tide Stag Rock

Oil on stretched cotton canvas. Stag rock is one of two chalk stacks on the eastern side of Freshwater Bay, there were originally three but the Arch rock fell after a severe storm in 1992. Legend has it that a Stag seeking refuge from the hunt leaped from the cliff onto the nearest chalk stack thereafter known as Stag Rock.
