This painting has been created using traditional Chinese silk painting methods. Two brushes are held in the hand at once. One to apply ink or colour and the other to blend it.By quickly switching from one to the other soft transitions of tone or colour can be achieved. Peonies have been cultivated in China since the Tang dynasty at least and is seen to be the Emperor among flowers. It has been mounted with ivory silk boarders and is ready for framing.
