Stargazing from the Beach, Newquay

Diane Griffiths

Many people are familiar with this view of Newquay, looking across to The Island and Newquay harbour over Towan beach. It’s a pretty stunning view during the day, and you can spend hours people-watching as they enjoy spending time on the beach. I’ve often watched a surf school head for the waves, the RNLI truck move up and down the beach, as well as beach games and sand castle creations. However, I wanted to flip this on its head. It’s still an iconic view, but with a twist that we are now gazing up rather than down, looking at the vast starry night sky. A couple on the beach are doing the same, alone in their evening stroll, taking a moment to stargaze.
