Sunset over Anna Maria Island, Florida
I was struck by the unusual colours of the original photograph taken by my daughter, so I attempted to reproduce the effect in pastel sticks. This time I used the reverse smooth side of Mi Teintes white paper. It was much harder to apply the colour due to the lack of tooth. After a couple of hours, I almost gave up, but I decided to stick with it. I'm glad I did, as the result was stunning. I finally managed to achieve a painting with much sharper definition than would have been possible using the rougher side of the paper.
