The Orangery Digger

Iris Howitt

This digger fascinated me, as it dug deeper and deeper into the ground to build the foundations of our new extension to the house - the orangery.
I could see the layers of the previous conservatory, then a sharp cut into the solid clay soil beneath - and the remnants of a trellis against the wall where the honeysuckle had grown.
