Winter in South West France

In "Paint" David Bellamy encourages painters to capture winter landscapes 'en plein air'. So I braved -3 degrees of frost one early morning to photograph then roughly sketch the view from our back terrace in the Dordogne, to tackle his challenge. We seldom have any snow here in winter, just the occasional frost or a few flakes. I painted the scene in watercolours, then added some iridescent medium to give a frosty sparkle to the roof tiles (doesn't show up much on this photo). I enjoyed his challenge but I think I'll wait for Spring to try more painting outside!
