The White House, Blackstone Edge, Littleborough

John Ratcliffe

The White House is a local landmark. It is in Littleborough, but overlooks Rochdale, from where you can see it, perched on the skyline.

It serves very good food and beer. At least it did, the last time I was there.

Blackstone Edge is an escarpment on the boundary between Greater Manchester and the West Riding. It is home to the "Roman Road" that is probably an 18th century packhorse road. This is an early version of the M62 which rises steeply close to Hollingworth Lake on it's way to Huddersfield.
