Introducing a new pet project using a variety of techniques to paint a miniature Schnauzer. Learn how to use wet into wet, wet on dry, splattering, masking fluid and salt to paint fur and texture. Denise will demonstrate the techniques and apply them in a painting of ‘Roo’ the miniature Schnauzer. The day focuses on painting so a detailed sketch of ‘Roo’ will be provided for you to trace on to watercolour paper, you can draw freehand if you prefer. Denise will demonstrate how to paint ‘Roo’ in step by step demonstrations throughout the day. You will be given guidance notes and photos to paint from. Suitable for anyone with some watercolour painting experience and anyone who has completed the beginners watercolour day that I teach. You need to bring: A ceramic palette or an old white plate for mixing colours, a pencil, 2 large jam jars, a board to tape your paper to, Arches or Saunders 300gsm/140lb ROUGH or NOT cotton watercolour paper size quarter imperial (11x15inches). Cotton watercolour paper will be available to buy on the day. Please bring any watercolours colours that you already have. I will be using: Yellows:Cadmium yellow pale or Winsor yellow Blues:Ultramarine Blue and Cobalt Reds:Permanent rose, Burnt Sienna and Sepia Opaque white or a fine nib white Posca pen. Masking fluid and a masking fluid pen on an old fine brush to apply the masking fluid with. Arrive from 9.40am, demonstrations will start at 10am and we finish at 4pm. Please bring your own lunch, there are local shops (Costa, Co-op etc). Free tea, coffee and biscuits (including gluten free) will be available all day. The workshop will be held in the large light and airy Wilkinson room at St John’s Church, Hills Road, Cambridge. There is free parking at the rear of the Church which is accessible from Blinco Grove. The Church is a 15min walk from the railway station.
