Drawing Trees – Short Course

Held by Bethany Milam

Drawing Trees – Short Course
Mondays at 2pm
4 weeks
14th March – 4th April 2022
Classes Are Held on Zoom

In this short course we will explore different approaches to drawing trees, focusing on observational drawing with the aim to make your tree drawings look more natural and realistic. You will learn to draw a variety of tree species, both at distance and close up, looking at structure, shape, mark-making, leaves, bark, lights and shadows and more! Participants will learn a wide range of drawing techniques with demonstrations and tuition from artist and tutor Bethany Milam. We will begin with pencil techniques and move on to working in pen with the option to add a colour wash. Drawing trees can be really relaxing and with some basic skills and knowledge they are an enjoyable subject for all abilities.

This is a great course for beginners, intermediate, or even advanced students who can find something to help their drawings improve. At the end of each session there will be an optional extra 15mins for one-to-one feedback to be given.

These Live lessons will be held on zoom. Sessions are recorded so that you can catch up with the lesson later if you are unable to join a session live. You will work from reference photos provided by the tutor, or you may use your own references. You will receive emails each week with reference photos and materials lists, you will also have access to an online file containing lesson notes, reference images, materials lists and extra topic information.
