Anita Pounder -

Shamrock of Northern Ireland using Winsor & Newton Watercolours with Anita Pounder

Taking inspiration from the emblem for the King’s Coronation that takes place on Saturday 6th May 2023,

The emblem pays tribute to The King’s love of the natural world, unifying the flora of the four nations of the United Kingdom; the rose of England, the thistle of Scotland, the daffodil of Wales and the shamrock of Northern Ireland. Together, the flowers create the shape of St Edward’s Crown, with which His Majesty The King will be crowned during the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, 6th May. The emblem has been designed using the red, white and blue of the union flag.

Anita will be showcasing her painting skills in this video, focusing on the official flower of Northern Ireland – the shamrock. The shamrock is a young sprig that is widely recognized as a symbol of Ireland. Legend has it that Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, used the shamrock as a metaphor for the Holy Trinity in Christianity.
