We’ve pulled together a list of exhibitions that we think you will enjoy this Summer
Where?: National Galleries Scotland, Edinburgh
What?: Journey through Lavery’s extraordinary life as he ventured across the globe while painting the sights he saw and the people he encountered along the way. Bask in the sun, sea and society of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, captured through impressionist landscapes, tantalising portraits and idyllic scenes of leisure in stunning locations, from Palm Springs to Paris.
When?: 20th July – 27th October 2024

Where?: Tate Britain, London
What?: Spanning 400 years, this exhibition follows women on their journeys to becoming professional artists. From Tudor times to the First World War, artists such as Mary Beale, Angelica Kauffman, Elizabeth Butler and Laura Knight paved a new artistic path for generations of women. Including over 150 works, the show dismantles stereotypes surrounding women artists in history, who were often thought of as amateurs. SAA’s Rebecca visited this fascinating exhibition, which you can read all about here.
When?: 16th May – 13th October 2024

Where?: The Wallace Collection, London
What?: This exhibition is about the renowned Sikh leader Ranjit Singh who conquered the Punjab, a region in Northern India that today encompasses Pakistan. Featuring a stunning array of over 100 exquisite works of art and historical objects, Sikh arms and armour from the Wallace Collection will feature prominently, contextualised for the first time alongside works of art.
