Julie Lightburn

York, North Yorkshire

I am a representational artist, working mailnly in acrylics and pastels; noted for my detailed landscapes. I studied 3D Design & Craft at York College, followed by Visual Information Design at Sunderland, specialising in model making. Since which I have worked at York Modelmaking, where I now have my studio - next to Dean's Garden Centre, Stockton-on-the-Forest. (Open to visitors by appointment) I enjoyed art at school and spent much of my time as a child “making things”.  As a young teenager I was inspired to want to become an "Artist" by exhibitions at York Theatre Royal. Some, twenty five years after leaving school I spent a week at Edinburgh College of Art and finally started the jouney to turn my dreams into reality!Shortly afterwards I joined York Art Society where I have learnt a lot from, and been inspired by, the visiting professional artists.  I now regularly exhibit and sell my work at the Societies exhibitions.I'm delighted to have been selected to take part in York Open Studios for the last six years and have enjoyed taking part in various other exhibitions throughout Yorkshire.
