Nicky’s radiant artworks capture ‘realism with a touch of romance’ in a colourful, impressionistic style. Her painting and illustration skill set is diverse, and love for painting florals and organic subjects influenced by designing print patterns for interiors and fashion for over 2 decades. Styles range from refined botanical floral studies and graphical illustrations to vibrant, and often large scale, watercolour artworks; the latter being what she is best known for and brings her and the viewer the most joy,
Using the magical painting medium of watercolour, Nicky creates artworks that radiate with colour and light and capture the essence of the bloom, bird, landscape or other subject matter.

A GLIMPSE AT NICKY'S CAREER

Originally trained in Art & design at Telford College of Art in 1994, thereafter a degree in fashion and textiles at Demontfort University Leicester in 1997. Her specialism in surface pattern design led to a 20 year career designing embroidered and printed textiles for various iconic and luxury UK interiors and fashion brands, also working freelance for many years selling designs to international fashion labels.
Collaborations with other well known designers and working with interior development projects, theatres and film production companies gave her an array of exciting opportunities to create designs, and travel to interesting locations. The fruits of her creative labours were commonplace in seasonal ranges in UK highstreet shops ,and regularly featured in fashion, bridal and interiors magazines. Nicky also gained recognition and awards in the industry.
Coming full circle in 2018 her original love for art took precedence again over design returning to painting. Further taking additional fine art study and intense 1 to 1 fine art tuition in 2020.

WORKSHOPS
Nicky is an encouraging tutor who enthusiastically inspires others to enjoy and progress their skills in the exciting medium watercolour and other related painting and drawing mediums. She now has a loyal following of regular students in workshops based in beautiful arts venues in Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire and hosting guest tutorials nationally too.
