About the Course
Learn to Paint 2 day art retreat.
The art course is for beginners or intermediates in watercolour painting. You will be shown from scratch how to stretch paper, apply paint, mix colour and all watercolour techniques to get you started. For improvers we will help you to expand your knowledge and introduce you to new ideas, tips and techniques.
There will be various step by step demonstrations and tuition throughout the course and you should complete at least 4 finished paintings. We have laid out the itinerary for indoors, but if the weather is good we may go outside and paint in the lovely grounds of the hotel for some of the time.
Your teacher is Vicki Griggs, a professional artist who has been teaching art to adults and children for over 20 years. Vicki owned and ran her own art gallery in Broadstairs called The Little Art gallery for 20 years. Vicki also has works published and printed in Dunelm stores across the UK.
Vicki runs art holidays in Greece and new for 2025 cruise and paint with Fred Olsen cruises.
Vicki holds Brushes and Bubbles painting parties in acrylic around Kent, theses are held monthly and are a fantastic evening out and painting parties in your own home.
We promise you will turn out paintings from the first morning’s lesson and we know you will be hooked from there on in, even if you have never painted before. We run a friendly and very relaxed class, so don’t be shy, come and join us for a wonderful packed weekend full of fun.
We believe everyone can paint, you just need to be shown how. Whether you are on your own, a couple or in a group, you will have fun learning to paint and meeting new friends on this fantastic short break.
The Flackley Ash Hotel is set in beautiful ground very close to Rye, a perfect setting for painting and a fun break away. The food is amazing and the staff always very helpful. There is a bar and restaurant, free wifi, real fires, gardens and an orchard and of course the spa.
You will have use of all the hotel and spa facilities so take time to enjoy the pool, sauna, spa, jacuzzi and gym. There are plenty of beauty treatments to take advantage of to pamper yourself, but these do need to be booked in advance. If you are interested in the treatments please contact the hotel for costs and details, early booking is recommended.
All the art materials you need will be provided, one night bed and full breakfast, English or continental, 2 days professional art tuition including all art materials
