This painting is based on my young adult daughter. There is very little likeness as I was going for a more generic portrait of young girls of today and their vision of their futures, their choices and their fears. The girl looks away from the viewer and is surrounded by and almost choked by brittle abstract shapes which threaten to engulf her and suggest the turmoil and mental anguish I have witnessed in my daughters and their peers. The world today have given these young people so much choice and easy access to almost anything but in return presents them with confusion, mistrust and anger.
