Caterham Art Group was started by a group of ex-servicemen and women who decided to set up an art group in Caterham, after the war. The first meetings were held in a tiny garden shed with about 20 people attending. Now there are around 90 members.
Members have varying levels of skills as artists and the group prides itself on its warm and friendly atmosphere.
Demonstrations, informal group evenings, workshops, museum or gallery visits and an outdoor sketching group in the summer months are all part of the annual programme. Meetings take place on the fourth Wednesday of the month (except December). The highlight of the year is the annual exhibition where the majority ofl the paintings on view are available for sale.
New members are welcome at any time regardless of experience or expertise.
