Formed in 1974, Congleton Art Society provides members with the opportunity to paint, draw and generally appreciate art. Meetings are held on Thursday afternoons at the 1st Congleton Scout Headquarters in Worrall Street, (near the Leisure Centre) Congleton, CW12 1DT commencing at 1.30 p.m. The programme of events includes workshops for different mediums and group participation events. On afternoons designated for own work there is usually a still life composition set up for members to draw or paint.
The Society’s programme of activities is designed to provide an insight into today’s many different art techniques and to give the opportunity for members to try for themselves. Subjects have included watercolours, acrylics and oil painting, drawing, print making, colleography, still life exercises, pastel drawing, working with clay, calligraphy, group exercises and using new materials.
Membership of Congleton Art Society is open to anyone who lives or works in the Congleton area.
