Fusion Art Group

Fusion Art Group

The art group meets in St Thomas' Church hall in Stanhope main street every Monday afternoon (excluding holidays) and holds exhibitions twice yearly to enable members to display and sell their work - visitors are often surprised by the quality and diversity of the pictures. If you live in Weardale or the surrounding area or are just passing through, whether an artist or not, feel free to pop your head around the door for a chat and a cup of tea.

Stanhope Fusion Art was the brainchild of local Weardale artist Bruce Clark. Bruce is not only a great landscape artist but an excellent teacher. Some years ago he moved away from the classroom environment, leader led club to a more expressive communal learning approach, where local amateur artists explored their own artistic preferences with minimal guidance. Sadly Bruce has left us but he continues to run a small art group in the dale.
Meanwhile the club continued to grow (23 at present) with new members bringing new ideas and the community spirit promotes the sharing of techniques and methods, of philosophies and inspirations. There are no rules on what to paint or draw nor how to paint it, subjects and mediums are varied and each artist within the club is instantly recognisable by their style. New members are always welcome, though of course spaces are limited, and the range of the current membership ensures that no matter what their preferences, there is always someone available to offer advice and support.
