The Ichenor & Wittering Art Group was formed in 1984 when 10 local people joined. One founder member still attends. We now have 24 members, split into two afternoon groups meeting on a Tuesday and Wednesday on a termly basis.
For the past 10 years we have been lucky enough to secure the services of Joan Honour Smith as our tutor. Joan had taught at the Royal College of Art in London and has been a real inspiration. She teaches all forms of art to people of various abilities within the group.
Previous successful projects have been illustrated cookery and poetry books, local calendars and tall ships paintings for the Nelson Centenary. We support Action for Children by painting postcards every year. Recently we have painted local village shops and pubs. In 2012 we won a National Award for painting vintage style posters of local attractions which have been displayed in Chichester Railway Station. Every two years we have an exhibition.
