Hello, Welcome to this website. I am a fully qualified Adult Education tutor and Artist living in South Hampshire. I am a Partner and Professional Associate member of SAA, and President of the Solent Aviation Art Society. I am also a founder member of the Wanting Group of Plein Air artists. My personal vision of the world is that beauty exists in most things we see and this drives me to try to paint those subjects in a way so as to describe, with as much feeling as possible, that beauty. A poetic approach is my aim. In Nature, beauty is often transitional, but through art it can be made eternal. As Albert Camus put it:‘Beauty is unbearable, drives us to despair, offering us for a minute the glimpse of an eternity that we should like to stretch out over the whole of time.’
Or to paraphrase Agnes Martin:
‘When I think of art, I think of beauty. Beauty is the mystery of life. It is not in the eye but in the mind, where each of us has a vision of perfection.’
With the galleries here, I hope to share my vision with you.I paint and draw several times a week and the galleries here display just a selection of that work. I like to work on location as far as possible, so many are local views and subjects. However, please note, I do not undertake commissions.
