Hi, my name is Caroline Strong. I live and grew up next to the South Downs in Hampshire, one of many beautiful parts of this country.
I paint in Watercolour and/or coloured pencil the countryside, flowers and wildlife around me. I am also a pet portrait artist and undertake commissions of your treasured pet of any sort or your favourite view, flower etc. Please do contact me with your requirements.
I trained as a Cartographic Draughtsman in the late 1970's and so have an eye for detail and actually enjoy a challenge. I paint realistically but use techniques so as not to over work my paintings. I aim to acheive light and atmosphere in my paintings.
My work has been exhibited locally in Hampshire, Surrey and W.Sussex and I have had artwork in Galleries in Hampshire, Dorset, St Ives and the Orkney Islands.
I resigned from Cartography in the mid 1990's due to it becoming mostly computerised, and having a young family. I retrained and became deputy supervisor of a pre-school for five years and then left to further my painting opportunities.
In September 2007 I started to teach a weekly Watercolour painting class for beginners at Liphook, (where I grew up )and in June 2008 extended this to an extra improvers class also in Liphook. For these classes I make sure I do lots of demos to actually show how to acheive techniques. I started a Watercolour class in my home town of Petersfield after Easter 2009. The improvers sessions are still going strong but due to back problems I've had to stop the beginner's classes...but I am willing to do adhoc sessions to get you started or on to the next level.
I was approached by Grayshott Art Society in July 2008 to become their tutor which I accepted. Each half term a new theme/subject is explored and different media is used to paint and/or draw the theme/subject.
I am the Membership Secretary and have been the Programme Secretary and Workshop Secretary for Bramshott and Liphook Art and Crafts Society (BLACS) and I am a member of Petersfield Art and Crafts Society (PACS) and Portsmouth and Hampshire Art Society (PHAS).
I had 4 paintings accepted by the United Society of Artists for their exhibition at the Menier Gallery, London, May 2011.
I was awarded 'overall winner' of the Art Profile/ Jackson's Art Supplies/ Shin Han paints competition in May 2011.
