Colin Woolf

Lunga, Argyll

I grew up in Hampshire and Dorset, where the New Forest was right on my doorstep.  I spent most of my free time exploring, learning about the species that lived there, and drawing and painting everything I found.   Ever since I can remember, I have had an urge to draw and paint what I see, and a fascination for wildlife. At the same time, family holidays in Scotland lit a lifelong passion - I wanted to head off into the mountains in search of golden eagles, or spend hours and hours wandering along the remote coastline.I took science subjects at A'level along with Art, having persuaded my teachers that this was possible.  I went to Nottingham University to study Animal Physiology, and after graduating I worked for a time in medical research.   It soon dawned on me that this wasn't my life purpose, and I made the leap into becoming a professional artist.I've now been a professional artist for over 35 years.    I'm married to Jo, who is also my business partner, and we have two grown-up daughters.  I lived in North Wales for 20 years but Scotland was still calling, and in 2009 I moved to West Lothian.   From here, I can easily reach all the amazing places and see so much wonderful wildlife - the inspiration is endless.I've exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London, the MacEwan Gallery in Aberdeenshire and the Torrance Gallery in Edinburgh, and I've also staged several exhibitions including two or three in the Channel Islands.  I exhibit regularly at shows such as game fairs and county shows, and I give talks and workshops to art societies. I've released two major books about my work, and for 10 years I have been producing my own limited edition fine art prints.   I have much to share in the way of reproducing your work as an artist, from the technical aspects to marketing and quality control.
