I live in the New Forest and near the Solent coast of Barton on Sea. I earn my living exclusively from what I paint and I paint exclusively in Acrylics. My work can be seen annually at Crufts and the New Forest Show and I regularly demonstrate to Art Societies & Groups (see Facebook "The Artist Dave White" for future dates and those societies successfully delivered). I am well known for my Animal Portraits having exhibited at Crufts and the Kennel Club since 2009. I paint in excess of 50 animal commissions a year. I have completed three art tuition books "Ready to Paint; Horses in Acrylics", "Sea and Sky in Acrylics" and "Painting Dog Portraits in Acrylics" with Search Press which have all been published worldwide. I earn my living from painting the animals but my guilty pleasure is the painting the sea. My artistic life started very late on the 27th April 2004 when the previous day I had been a Finance Director and the next became an artist!! That's one of the reasons I adopted the title of "The Artist Dave White" to keep reminding me I am no longer a Finance Director!!I firmly believe we are all given creative gifts as we are made in the image of our maker (see Exodus 35) and my gift is painting: I am no detailed drawer. I was taught o'level art at Chester City Grammar school by Mr John Snell and loved it but Modernism at A level left me cold and my results were telling me I would be no artist and so learnt numbers and that became my career. But since becoming a professional artist I recognise that so many people have not responded well to the way they were taught art, with very little encouragement being given in their particular gift. So my goal in my teaching is to show what the acrylic media can do for the student and for the student to then apply that to their particular gifting. I therefore adapt my teaching to all ages to provide encouragement at all levels. I also demonstrate and run workshops for Art Societies in the south of England but if you are not able to attend these I encourage you to buy one of my books where you will find a wealth of knowledge on the use of acrylics. Thanks for your interest in my work.
