Lesley Linley

Derbyshire

Artist, Tutor and Author

Born in Derbyshire, I trained and worked as a Graphic Designer before teaching watercolour, calligraphy and drawing in local authority Adult Education Classes and my own classes. I moved to the Isle of Skye in 2004 where my home and studio were close to the Cuillin hills, with panoramic views and plenty of inspiration. The landscape and waterfalls of Skye became my speciality and whilst there I put together most of the material for my book "Ready to Paint in 30 minutes: Mountain Scenes in Watercolour" published by Search Press. This is now out of stock with the publisher but I have a few signed copies.

I moved back to Derbyshire in 2018 and began painting local waterfalls. Lockdown forced a change of subjects, with more flowers and glassware featuring in 2020 and I wrote several articles for Leisure Painter. Injury and family illness meant working life was put on hold for a while, but I'm now doing workshops and demonstrations again, still keen on mitigating the risks of Covid.
