Mike Rollins

Hitchin, Hertfordshire

Mike is a painter based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. His style is a mixture of traditional and expressive techniques in a variety of media, but predominantly acrylic paint. Born in West Yorkshire, he grew up surrounded by the rugged moorland landscape of the Brontës and Ted Hughes. Subconsciously, his eye has been coloured ever since by its legacy of grit- stone buildings and stark beauty.

Having originally studied theatre set design, Mike went on to design visitor attractions and museum exhibitions, whilst receiving a number of painting commissions and holding several solo shows.

Mike is now focussed on his work as a fine artist and tutor. He regularly demonstrates and holds workshops for art societies and has articles featured in various publications, including Leisure Painter magazine.

Mike has been chosen several times to exhibit his work at the Patchings Arts Centre, Notts, as part of The Artist Magazine summer exhibition and in 2017 won its St Cuthbert’s Mill Award. He has taken part in exhibitions throughout North Hertfordshire, including Herts Open Studios, and is a member of Herts Visual Arts and the Society For All Artists.
