After a career as a textile designer and a second career as a primary teacher, I am now painting, creating and teaching adults who are eager to experiment creatively.
I aim to capture the changing effects of light, shadow, weather and season on the natural world, in my paintings of the places I visit. Evening is my favourite time of day. I am drawn to patterns and textures like a magnet. Birds are often in my landscapes but have become more of a fascination and focus in recent years due to close observation with my scientist husband. Here again, I am concerned with the way they change, move or behave and the variation in colours and textures. What am I trying to say with my work? Look - appreciate and enjoy the world and nature on our doorsteps. Find and share the beauty, find it awesome, notice how good this makes you feel and remember this feeling - look after it.
