Recent visits to Japan have resulted in a change in direction for my work, having worked in a representational way for nearly 30 years I am now exploring a more abstract approach. Collage has always been a favourite medium and whilst in Japan I collected various papers to include in my paintings.
One of these paintings was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 2009, and I have since explored other subjects, in this more abstract way.
In March 2011 I held my first solo exhibition in Japan at the Craole Gallery in Niigata.
