After Glow
In this piece I enjoyed experimenting with the tonality of my paint and exploring the values within an image that at first glance seems monotonous. This practice echos my thought process in choosing subjects to paint as I love to capture figures that at first appearance can seem without strong presence of emotion; however those expressions have the most versatility and I find most interesting to read into and weave a narrative. The longer you study them the more you can feel their energy.
For this painting, I tried to create an aura about the figure: the bright beam of neon lights and empty background with her staring out of the frame at you, alone. Everyone else having left. Silence now, only the sound of the electricity flickering.
