Acrylic paint and acrylic medium. No brushes were used in the painting except in the final glaze. Using techniques learnt on a Kate Bentley seascape workshop. Inspiration was from the song The Mermaid. The chorus being
And the raging seas did roar
And the stormy winds did blow
And we jolly sailor boys were sitting up a top
And the landlubbers lying down below.
My late father used to sing it to me at bedtime.
I tried adding a ship and cliffs but wiped them off. I felt they didn’t add anything to the scene. It’s all a learning curve! Acrylics are so versatile that I’m beginning to love them.
