Evening at St Michael's Mount

Cornish art by British contemporary artist Diane Griffiths. This was my very first successful painting of a night time landscape. The delicious blues are dark, but not too dark you can’t enjoy the layers of the evening. St Michael’s Mount itself is lit up in a glorious yellow. With the causeway only just uncovered I set up my camera and tripod and took a handful of long exposure photographs. This allowed me to capture really intense colours and provided a rich set of reference photos for this painting.
