This painting is slightly surreal & slightly "tongue in cheek", away from my usual style, which, I think, gives it an old world feel. But it's telling a story that has happened many countless times as the fisherman returns, hopefully with a large catch of fish, so the friend on the water's edge awaits with empty containers. ready to off-load the catch!
