This is my first portrait painting, using a blurred printout from my out-of-focus photo. I started initially doing some freehand drawing & painting but, when the proportions went slightly wrong, I used a grid ref to correct the features. I overpainted with acrylics before moving to water mixable oils - another first. I painted this over a number of monthly art days and a couple of times nearly gave up - but thankfully, stepping back for a break one time, I suddenly saw my husband looking back at me - hurrah!
