Hope
A lot of my models are friends of my two young adult daughters as well as my daughters themselves. I have witnessed an increasing amount of struggle in these girls as they navigate today’s world which expects so much of them both in their physical appearance and their achievements. I have seen an increasing amount of depression, confusion and stress. I called this painting Hope and depicted the figure with a positive expression as she emerges from the tangled mist of abstraction and obscurity into the fresh positive we all feel when spring comes and change is in the air
