Midsummer Paddle

Gavin Peacock

This is a revisit of a previous attempt to do a summer painting. The original never worked for me, it was dull, flat and awkward. I had the idea of moving the view point to looking downwards so that the horizon moves to the top of the picture. This makes it a more intimate and closed world. Add on top of that the fading into a black background and I get a composition with a built-in frame and a focus on the central figure.
