Paul Ducas
Composer of the music " The Sorcerer's Apprentice".
I found some photographs of Ducas when I was researching for ideas for a painting entitled "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". I thought Paul Ducas looked like a kind man and was taken by the kind look in his dark eyes. Usually dark eyes look unfriendly, so this was instantly a challenge for me to paint 'kind, dark, eyes'. All of my research photographs were in black and white so that I do not know the true colour of Ducas' eyes. However, my vigorous inspection of the photos made me certain that Paul Ducas did not have any blue in his eyes! He was a perfectionist and tore up much of his Compositions as a result of this. The music he created was used in Disney's ,"Fantasia" and is world known by children as a result of this Micky Mouse film. I think that anyone connected to Micky Mouse must be kind, so kind eyes I gave to Paul Ducas. I listened to his wonderful music as I painted him.
