I feel there is something captivating in painting a subject with an ambiguous expression. It invites the viewer to delve a little deeper into their psyche to understand the painting.
Rhyme’s soulful gaze into the beautiful natural light sparked that curiosity and inspired this painting.
I kept the focal point of the piece on his face whist loosely laying in the background, distorting it slightly to counterbalance the figure. One could infer that the background is warping away from his gaze or towards the exit.
