Sunrise in the forest
This was the first of my experimental Forest series based on the technique of appliqued trees on an acrylic ground shown by Ali Hargreaves in a SAA workshop. For my painting, I tried using Quink ink on newsprint tree trunks and found it created a lovely subtle blue green colour. The trees were enhanced with ink especially to darken the shadow side. All the rest of the painting was in acrylic with a limited palette.
