The Battle of Flamborough Head
My attempt at painting the savage battle between HMS Serapis (closest) and the USS Bonhomme Richard (captained by John Paul Jones) accompanied by the Alliance and the Pallas. 8th May 1779 off Flamborough Head. The 41 vessel Baltic merchant convoy (left) escapes to the north carrying wood and masts that went on to build Nelson's Navy. Study for an Oil Painting
