The Magic of Buttermere

Arthur Tindle

The sizes quoted include the mount and frame.
Buttermere is my favourite lake In the Lake District, due to it's remoteness from the busier parts of the Lake District and the majestic mountains that surround it. The main mountain in the centre of the painting is Fleetwith Pike with its easily recognised central ridge. A visit to Buttermere in September this year (2016) revealed this view of the lake and I instantly wanted to paint the scene in front of me. I was helped in this decision by a carefully positioned sign by the side of the lake stating that this was the best view in the Lake District - I couldn't argue with that !!
