The potential for everything

Sylvie Maney

This painting changed its way as I built up the layers. My intention was to create a mountain scene, but it wasn't going well. Out of frustration I splashed paint across the surface. When I stood back, it became clear that this painting was going to be a seascape! I followed the lead and 'The potential for everything' was born. I gave it this title because I felt the scene depicted the power of the sea, which has the potential to give life and take it away, the power to fill you with awe or terror and everything in between.
