The trick is to keep moving

Janis Steele

I had spent most New Year's Day being a couch potato and late afternoon thought I would try this. Initially I was going to paint it in acrylics but the thought of getting everything out to paint (in artificial light) didn't really appeal so I decided to try a quick pastel drawing.
I loved the bright colours in Dorothy Wilson's photograph but I wanted just to concentrate on the figure rather than the background.
I used a mixture of Rembrandt and SAA pastels on Daler-Rowney Murano paper.
I enjoyed drawing this. I didn't spend a lot of time on it. My figure is a bit shorter than the original, which wasn't really intended, but I'm reasonably happy with the way it turned out.
