Walking to the Tate in the Winter Sun
This impressionistic Winter landscape is actually set in a city, but the sunshine and long shadows through the trees have a strong feeling of being immersed in nature. The cool blues of the distant buildings offset the warm colours of the sunshine. The heavy-body acrylics and blocky brushwork add to the impressionistic feel.
I photographed this scene walking past the path leading into the Tate Modern and the sun streamed through the Silver Birch trees, just at the right angle.
Acrylic on canvas landscape, with blocky brushwork on a box canvas. I painted this piece for the January 2019 Cover of 'Paint' Magazine.
