Beginners Watercolour Painting Workshop

Held by Denise Schoenberg

A relaxing comprehensive workshop exploring the basic techniques of pure watercolour. No previous experience necessary, complete beginners and those wanting to refresh their techniques are welcome. We start the day with a brief introduction to materials and I will demonstrate washes, layering, and explain transparency and opacity. In my demonstrations I explain my process step-by-step and show you various techniques and methods for creating different effects with watercolours. When I demonstrate the a painting you will be able to see it on a large television screen so you can see the detail.

One of the great things about attending a demonstration is that you can see the techniques being used in real-time and ask questions during the demonstration.
My workshops include demonstrations but are hands-on, allowing participants to practice their skills with guidance and personalized feedback. This allows you to ask questions and get feedback on your own work.
There will be plenty of opportunity for you to practice the washes and techniques and use them in a finished painting.

The beginners starter pack includes: 12 tubes of paint and a professionally printed course book covering the aspects of materials, tone, layering, washes and colour palette projects for you to paint at home.

Demonstrations will start at 10am and we finish at 4pm. I encourage attendees to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the workshop ie 9.45am. This will allow you time to familiarise yourself with the amenities. Meet me and your fellow participants and enjoy a coffee or tea or other light refreshments.

All courses are for adults age 18 plus.

You will need to bring an old shirt or apron and your lunch.
Local shops a short 5min walk from the venue (Costa, Co-op etc). Free tea, coffee and biscuits (including gluten free) will be available all day.

The workshop will be held in the large light and airy Wilkinson room at St John’s Church, Hills Road, Cambridge. There is free parking at the rear of the Church which is accessible from Blinco Grove.

The Church is a 15min walk from the railway station. If you have any questions please email me at info@deniseschoenberg.com
