Held by Nicola L Adams
Friendly informal tuition for artists with some experience in the techniques of Botanical Illustration.
Working primarily from fresh plant material (with photographic aid as required) students will develop existing skills through a series of projects and a personal study.
The emphasis is very much on personal development with a view to progress and refine the student’s painting style. With this in mind class size is small, enabling plenty of one to one tuition, tailored to the individual’s needs.
Advice on materials and equipment together with demonstrations of painting and drawing techniques is given, supported with written notes where needed.
If you are interested in attending this new class please register your interest by completing the online form and I’ll get back to you.
Tutor experience- I came to study botanical illustration after a career as a professional freelance Silverware Designer, graduating with Distinction from the RBGE Diploma in Botanical Illustration in 2009. I’ve taught many courses at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (Beginners and Intermediate Botanical Illustration, various short courses and Master classes) and regularly tutor the Online Certificate in Botanical Illustration. When not teaching I continue to develop my own work- current projects include the study of historic roses and tulips, and floral fabric design.
