This is a class for everyone, beginners and improvers alike. We are a happy group who enjoy learning about all mediums, but focus mostly on Watercolour and Acrylic.

I am a professional portrait artist, so always encourage portraiture, but most weeks the students can choose their own subject. We learn a great deal from the Masters (Leonardo, Renoir, Holbein, Constable, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Monet) but equally look at more recent artists (like Patrick Nagel, Gordon Beningfield, Tamara de Lempicka, Jack Vettriano), studying their materials, colours, techniques etc. A lesson might be based on a particular medium or technique (ie using Gum Arabic or Avoiding Mud in Watercolour) or it could be spent copying a master and then creating your own work from the knowledge gained. It’s always varied and always fun and informative.
